Dr Neil Holden is a senior lecturer in the School of Life Science at the University of Lincoln, with expertise in lung diseases, including asthma and COPD. Neil was trained as a virologist and continues to have interest in respiratory viruses and how they particularly affect people with inflammatory lung diseases.
Within the School of Life Sciences Neil acts as both the deputy programme lead for BioMedical Science as well as one of the student engagement leads. Prior to joining the University of Lincoln Neil spent some time at the University of Calgary in Canada investigating the molecular mechanisms of common drugs used for asthma and COPD, and he then moved on to work in preclinical drug development for the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca in Molndal Sweden.
Neil is committed to increasing science communication accessibility and has previously been involved in British Science Week, Pint of Science as well as TV and Radio appearances.
